Wishin’ for Switchin’? The Huntress Buyout Program Has You Covered

Picture this scene: I'm at the Huntress booth at a trade show. Partner walks up, "I love Huntress. I wish we were using you guys, but ______"

Take your pick:

  • We signed a long-term contract with another vendor before I got here

  • We bought based on a demo and the reality is way different

  • Their tool cost was cheaper, so we moved away, but the cost to manage it is ridiculous and burning everyone out

  • We went another direction before you guys offered the feature/product

  • My vendor claims I renewed when I didn't, and they're threatening legal action if I leave 😞

I've had these conversations more times than I can count. They'd love to replace their current vendor with Huntress, but they're stuck. 3, 6, 9 months left on a contract. Canceling early means cancellation fees. Staying means unnecessary risk to clients, personal mental exhaustion, or team burnout, all because they're locked into a vendor contract.

So they don't reach out. Don't engage. Counting down the days to their contract end date.

And if ya don't know, now you know

Here's something most people don't know: Huntress has been helping partners make their switch happen before their existing term expires for a long time. We just never made it official and talked about it publicly.

If a partner came to us mid-contract with a competitor, we'd work something out. Free service during the overlap. A deal structure that made the switch make sense financially. We did it because it was a win/win. It's good for our users and it's good for Huntress.

How does this make financial sense, you ask? Well, as it turns out, our users love us. Our CSAT and retention rates are in the 90s—best in class in the industry. Once partners and customers find us, they stay and grow over time. And we stay focused on wrecking hackers and making our users' lives easier, again: win/win.

At this point, we've helped enough people through competitor buyouts that we decided it was time to stop keeping it quiet.

So today, we're formalizing the Huntress Buyout Program.

Here's how it works

The idea is simple. If you're ready to make the move to Huntress, and you're in the final months of your contract with a competing security vendor, we'll cover your Huntress service for the rest of that term. What does "final months" mean? It depends on the business case: Try us! A conversation can't hurt.

No cash. No complicated reimbursement process. We write your Huntress contract to include a free period that lines up with whatever agreed upon time is left on your existing agreement. You fulfill your obligation with your current vendor as you see fit. You get to deploy us immediately, at no charge, so you're not paying twice.

"You get a buyout! You get a buyout! You get a buyout!"

A few things worth knowing:

  • No minimum deal size. Whether you've got 50 endpoints or 50,000, you can qualify. Standard minimums still apply.

  • Works for new and existing partners. If you're already a Huntress partner but haven't made the full switch across your stack, same deal.

  • Only available through your channel partner. All buyout deals run through the partner network, (MSPs, VARs, Disty, etc.) same as everything else we do.

  • Note: If you exceed the agreed upon buyout usage, we will charge overages. That's fair and obvious, but worth noting.

Eligibility is determined by Huntress, and we reserve the right to make judgment calls. But the bar isn't high. If you're in a contract with a competing product and you want out, come talk to us.

Why are we doing this?

Honestly? It's good business for Huntress, and a chance to help our partners and customers. Snake oil in security is real. AI has only exacerbated the issue. Most security vendors over-promise and under-deliver, and the people who pay for that are the lean teams that get stuck chasing down false positives. When those teams find Huntress, they stay, they grow, they advocate. Why? They get their lives back. Seriously. Don't just take our word for it, here's what one partner had to say after making the switch:

"Huntress gives us one less thing to think about. The protection, the quality of alerts, the speed to act. It's all there."

We've raised significant capital. We've built the best security team out there. The economics make sense as long as we keep up our best in class retention. We've proved out the concept. Now we want to do it at scale. Our mission dictates it.

We're doing this for the decision maker who got lied to. The partner who had their entire agreement renew because they didn't respond to an email. The IT Director who inherited their predecessor's poor decisions. The owner who went for the lower unit economics only to have their entire team carry the burden of false positives and unmanaged security tools.

We see you. We got you. You shouldn't have to wait until your renewal to make the right call.

Why is our CSAT at 98% and retention at 92%?

Our friends at MSPCFO ran a study for us on their data. MSPCFO focuses on business intelligence for MSPs from ticketing tool data.

It was 21 months of data across 325 MSPs, 408k tickets, and 13.6M labor. So a valid sample size. The study looked at MSP time spent on security tickets before and then after Huntress adoption.

Long story short, after Huntress adoption:

  • 40% reduction in security labor per managed device

  • 22% fewer problem tickets requiring more than twice the typical resolution time from your tier twos

  • 50% fewer security crisis tickets requiring more than three times the typical resolution time from your tier threes

Imagine how much money you'd save, and how much more profitable work you could achieve, if you cut your security ticket labor in half and got 50% of your T2/3's time back.

Simply put, Huntress makes managing security more profitable for our MSPs.
