Security breaches don't blare sirens. They slip in quietly, and an attacker settles into the background. By the time you discover them, you're left asking, "How long have they been here?"

For Everything IT, a Dublin-based managed service provider (MSP), that question wasn’t theoretical. They were seeing steady phishing attacks for years. “A couple a month,” as Managing Director Denis McAuliffe put it. And he knew quite well what happens when a compromise slips past the first line of defense: “If attackers get in, they can be there for months.”

Challenges | A “couple” threats a month adds up fast

Everything IT is intentionally built to stay lean. “We’re small, niche, nimble, and quick,” McAuliffe says proudly.

That can be a strength. That is, until the threat landscape starts demanding a bigger team than they actually have. Things had a hit point where Everything IT’s clients were frequently up against:

  • Frequent phishing-driven account takeovers. Users were falling for adversary-in-the-middle (AiTM) phishing attacks that captured credentials and gave attackers a foothold in their accounts.

  • ClickFix-style malware. McAuliffe described a growing scam pattern where a user is told to paste a command into the Windows Run box and execute it. It looks simple, but it can quickly hand control to an attacker.

  • Tooling friction getting worse at scale. As Everything IT grew, “good enough” security tools required too much manual work and didn’t fit their MSP operations well.

  • Not every customer could “just upgrade licensing.” Everything IT needed a way to raise protection across customer environments, even when customers weren’t on premium tiers of their product offerings.

McAuliffe and his team certainly had the skill and urgency to protect their clients, but what they really needed was 24/7 coverage and support that could keep up with the rising speed of attacks.

Solutions | Fast coverage, backed by a real SOC

For Everything IT, two things mattered immediately: speed and backup. That’s why they raised the baseline and got direct with customers. McAuliffe bluntly states he told clients, “This is what we recommend, and you need it.”

Everything IT rolled out the Huntress Security Platform to nearly all of their clients, implementing Managed ITDR, Managed EDR, and Managed SIEM. With Huntress behind them, Everything IT gained.

  • Deployment that matches MSP reality
“It was a rapid deployment across most of our customer base,” McAuliffe says. “Straight away, Huntress was finding problems.” And that speed wasn’t a one-off. For Everything IT, the ability to roll out protection in minutes—without weeks of tuning—was a practical requirement for supporting many customers at once.

  • A security operations center (SOC) that’s actually reachable
When something looks wrong, Everything IT can lean on the Huntress SOC—a 24/7 team of elite threat analysts backed by AI. They act not as a replacement for McAuliffe’s team, but as a force multiplier. McAuliffe calls out the value, saying he can “get straight into a live chat and even request a phone call if I need.”

  • Operational flow that doesn’t slow them down
Alerts flowed into their system, automatically creating tickets. And for high-severity situations, the team received immediate notification from the Huntress SOC, sometimes “before the ticket arrives.”

And the primary goal of the SIEM was twofold: ensuring compliance and enhancing visibility. Managed SIEM allows Everything IT to investigate incidents with confidence, backed by detailed records and the tools needed to trace events and take decisive action.

Results | Fewer “uh-oh” moments, more control

The win wasn’t just that threats existed and were detected. The win was that Everything IT could stay ahead of them without monitoring alerts 24/7. In other words, their team could enjoy their nights and weekends.

  • Compromised accounts were contained quickly. McAuliffe explains, “Those accounts get isolated straight away,” which is especially important when incidents happen at “awkward hours.” He adds, “Huntress stands out on the identity threat detection response end of things.”

  • Huntress surfaces the quiet signs attackers love. Suspicious apps, inbox rules, and other “boring” changes that can keep an attacker persistent if nobody’s looking.

  • They could show value to customers fast. In one trial, McAuliffe says Huntress “paid for itself straight away” by intercepting a phishing attack early.

  • The human outcome was immediate. After rolling out Huntress, McAuliffe says, “We all sleep better at night.”

  • Unrivaled peace of mind. “Return on investment is a no-brainer,” McAuliffe says, especially since “the peace of mind, lack of stress, and reassurance that Huntress brings is invaluable.”

Everything IT’s job is to protect customers, keep operations steady, and be the team people trust when something feels off. To McAuliffe’s excitement, Huntress allowed his team to remain “small, niche, nimble, and quick,” while also getting stronger.

With fast deployment, identity and endpoint coverage, system-wide visibility, and a 24/7 SOC in their corner, Everything IT can move faster, reduce risk earlier, and keep customers safer. And they do it all without drowning in noise or adding complexity for complexity’s sake.

Or, in McAuliffe’s words, “With Huntress, threats are intercepted before they cause trouble.”

The peace of mind, lack of stress, and reassurance that Huntress brings is invaluable.
