Frequently Asked Questions about Huntress Neighborhood Watch
NFR stands for “Not-for-Resale.” It’s a license a SaaS vendor gives a partner to use a product internally, protecting your own environment or testing the platform — rather than to resell or deploy to paying clients. It’s different from a time-boxed free trial: NFR licenses are typically full-featured and last longer (Huntress’s Neighborhood Watch program offers up to a year), so you can actually run the platform in production internally, not just kick the tires.
Huntress partners start with free internal-use licenses through the Neighborhood Watch NFR program. It's open to any MSP, no purchase required. Use the licenses to try the platform in your own environment, and when you're ready, subscribe and start deploying Huntress to your clients. Your internal-use licenses stay free after you do. Client deployments get partner pricing, which is volume-based, with per-unit rates that drop as your managed endpoint or identity count grows. In short, the Huntress NFR program allows you to put the horse before the cart.
Huntress’ one year for free without purchase is about the most generous NFR offer that you can find. Many SaaS security vendors offer some version of a free or discounted internal-use license, but the structures differ. Some programs allocate licenses by partner tier, so a Bronze partner gets access to fewer products or lower quantities than a Gold partner, and some higher-end products are excluded entirely.
Others offer free access for a set period that can convert to ongoing free access once you cross an endpoint threshold (purchase required from the start). Huntress Neighborhood Watch program is open to any MSP regardless of purchasing status or tier, including the full platform.
Through the Neighborhood Watch program, MSPs can get free internal-use licenses—typically for up to a year—to protect and test Huntress in their own environment. They can’t be used for clients or resale.
We can all agree that a year is plenty of time to properly evaluate the platform. Once you subscribe to Huntress, your internal-use licenses stay free. If you haven't, at the end of the year you can choose to pay for internal use at partner pricing, or we'll part ways for now and hope to reconnect down the road. No hard feelings either way.
