Stuart Ashenbrenner

Turns out, Macs can get viruses. Just ask Stuart.

Stuart Ashenbrenner’s journey into cybersecurity began at The Mac Store, a small Mac repair shop in the Pacific Northwest. While helping customers troubleshoot their computers, he noticed a gap in understanding Mac security, especially with Apple's "Macs don't get viruses" ad campaign from the early 2000s. This sparked his interest in the niche field of Mac security, and he fell in love with it.

Specializing in macOS, Stuart has been using Macs exclusively for a decade and a half. "I am to Windows what Michael Jordan was to baseball.”

At Huntress, Stuart cherishes the team he works with. "I love the people I get to work alongside—they are smart, compassionate, and genuine."

Stuart holds a BS in Computer Science and previously worked as a macOS Detections Engineer at Jamf and a Software and Data Engineer at Bookbyte.

What's your favorite cybersecurity tip, Stuart?

“You don't need "cleaning" software for your Mac.”

Outside of work, Stuart has a unique background in sports broadcasting and radio, a field he spent 10 years in. He also plays the fiddle. His biggest passion, however, is being a father, which he describes as his most significant and favorite time investment. Stuart is also an avid reader, always delving into lots and lots of books.
