Huntress Series B: Our Next Chapter of Growth

From the day we first opened our doors in 2015, our mission at Huntress has been clear: to elevate small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) above the cybersecurity poverty line. 

Today, we’re taking an exciting step forward in fulfilling that mission: we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve raised $40 million in Series B funding!

This fundraising round is led by JMI Equity, a growth equity firm focused on investing in leading software companies (Autotask, Code42, ServiceNow and Trustwave, to name a few), with additional support from our existing investors at ForgePoint Capital and Gula Tech Adventures.

These partnerships will help us remain laser-focused on expanding our platform, accelerating our roadmap and ensuring we can challenge tomorrow’s hackers. And most importantly, they’ll enable us to continue educating and empowering you to better protect your clients. 

Before we get into more details, we’d like to thank our investors, the broader cybersecurity community, and you—our partners. We wouldn’t be here without you… and we’re just getting started!

Why Fundraise Now?

This Series B round accelerates our journey toward becoming the go-to cybersecurity platform for SMBs. After an exciting year of growth—which included the launch of The Huntress Security Platform, our acquisition of Level Effect’s Recon technology, the beta launch of our Managed Antivirus service, our second hack_it event and much more—we’re ready to take things to the next level to help you stay ahead of the curve. 

We’ve partnered specifically with JMI and our previous investors because they are firm believers in our mission, our values, our partners and our commitment to the channel. And while this round of funding will help us further expand our platform, secure our partners and grow our company, we will remain independent and in control of our own destiny as we hold true to our day-one mission. 

What’s Next? 

These venture partnerships ensure we can continue to defend against new and diverse threats. Looking ahead, you can expect Huntress to help you more effectively manage preventive solutions like antivirus and firewalls, while moving beyond endpoint detection to increase visibility into network traffic and cloud-based email threats—with plenty more to come 😉.

Ultimately, we’ll be doubling down on our mission to bring highly effective—and affordable—cybersecurity services to the 99% of businesses that need it most. We see this as an opportunity to reciprocate the love and support you’ve given us as we continue to invest in the channel.

If we had to choose one word to capture how we’re feeling right now, we’d choose grateful. We started this adventure with the goal of working with IT professionals to give SMBs the same attention to security that larger organizations with bigger budgets can afford.

What we didn’t expect was the sense of community we’d form along the way. Let’s be honest—IT can sometimes feel like a thankless field. It’s easy to fall into the trap of feeling isolated, underappreciated and even burned out.

That is, unless you have the right people in your circle—the people who are just as passionate about cybersecurity and the greater good as you are. And we’re lucky enough to say that we hit the “right people” jackpot with our partners.
