About
Josh Kiriakoff lives where threat hunting and detection engineering collide. As a Security Operations Analyst at Huntress, he tracks hands-on-keyboard intrusions end to end, then turns real-world attacker behaviour into sharper detection rules for everyone from five-person accounting firms to mature enterprises.
Josh came up through the offensive side; bug bounty work, web app pentesting (eWPT, eJPT), and purple-team time at Deloitte. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Cybersecurity from Edith Cowan University and, perhaps more importantly, a Certificate III in Retail Management that somehow still sneaks its way into his day to day SOC operations.
His go-to cybersecurity tip? Lie on your security questions. "First pet's name" is on Facebook. "Mother's maiden name" is on a public records site. Make up answers, save them in a password manager, and never give the real ones to a website. It feels weird the first time, but it saves accounts.
When he's not protecting organizations in the Huntress SOC, you'll find Josh outside: running, lifting, or camping with friends, or even scratching the work itch with a CTF or home lab.
